According to the travel brochure, Hatago Inn is a replica of an affordable roadside travel lodge from the Edo (classic Tokyo) period.

This shot was taken at Nikko Edomura, a makeshift village featuring ninjas, geishas and anything reminiscent of Edo (former name of Tokyo).
